Through the use of the blog people are able to put their thoughts and bbc can read them and take people's thoughts and use it to improve the site. twiiter is a common social network which many people have and by following radio 3 on twitter the audience can be up to date with the latests updates from bbc 3.
3. Why would the example help attract the audience or meet their needs?
downloading is free frm the website, blogging from audience can help improve the site to meet the needs and standards of the audience.
4. would the audience have been able to access this kind of content from a radio station 5, 10, 30 years ago and why?
BBC radio 3 was originally launched in 1946 and they provide classical, opera, jazz, world music, culture, drama and the arts. internet wasn't available to normal people twenty years ago therefore no-one would have had access to the website so if they missed something that was aired then there was no way of catching up. also the music which is aired can be downloaded from the net this could not have been done 20 years ago.

i think it is important that the BBC is impartial as the audience are paying to watch it, therefore it wouldnt be right for them to be biased and consider just one point of view.

Radio research
Radio was invented by Gugliemo Marconi in 1895, he was an italian inventor known for his development of a radio telegraph system.. His goal was to use radio waves to create a practical system of wireless telegraphy i.e. the transmission of telegraph messages without connecting wires. This was not a new idea numerous investigators had been exploring wireless telegraph technologies for over 50 years, but none had proven commercially successful.
BBC stands for british broadcasting co-operation which was formed in october 1922 by british and american electrical companies doing business in the UK.. BBC radio is a service of the british broadcasting co-operation which has operated in the UK under the terms of a royal charter.
John Reith was the founder of the BBC. He was its first general manager when it was set up as the British Broadcasting Company and he was its first director general when it became a public corporation in 1927. Reith fought off the politicians' attempts to influence the BBC, while offering the British people programmes to educate, inform and entertain.
The BBC is impartial which means that they are not biased and do not give a one sided argument. This is really crucial for the bbc because viewers are paying to watch this therefore they have to consider every one else's opinions.
Television was invented in the 1880's
During the war BBC changed from TV to radio and in the 1960's radio 1 was formed which is youth oriented, mostly contemporary and pop and rock music.
the way bbc has developed since 2000's:
- the bbc website was created in 1994 but didn't launch officially until December 1997, following government approval to fund it by TV licence fee revenue as a service in its own right. now they recieve over 3 billion hits per month.
- they then succesfully launched bbc iplayer on 27th July 2007, where programmes from the bbc channel could be caught up on.

Kiss 100 FM
Kiss 100 is a radio station broadcasting in London, it was first set up by Gordon McNamee and his friends.
They first broadcasted on october 1985 as a pirate radio station, and due to it attracting a huge audience it finally accquired a legitimate license in 1990.
Kiss is targeted mainly at the youth aged between 15-25 and they specialise in r & b hip hop, urban and electonic dance music.
